Laser Automation Systems

RedBack’s automation systems give a smooth, accurate finish trim by reading a rotating laser beam and driving your blade hydraulics to match it. Single-ram for skid steer blades and land planes; dual-ram for blades that need independent left/right height control.

Each kit includes the receiver(s), control box and cables as listed. Most setups need a hydraulic expert and an auto-electrician to integrate cleanly with your machine — we’ll work with you to spec and tailor a system to your blade and hydraulic valve setup. Call 1800 769 858 for a tailored quote.

FAQ

Machine Automation Questions

What is laser automation?
Laser automation does the height adjustment of your blade automatically for you. Receivers detect the height of your laser level’s beam, and the control box drives the hydraulics of your blade to match it — giving a smooth final finish or trim of a pad without manual input.
What’s the difference between Single and Dual automation?
Single systems control one hydraulic ram. Dual systems control two rams independently. Single is good for small skid steer blades or land planes where one ram controls the whole height. Dual is better when you have two rams controlling each side of a blade — more precise height control across the length of the blade and more responsive for single or dual grades.
My blade has a tilt function — can this work with your system?
Out of the box, no — but we can custom wire a joystick or wiring loom to allow you to control the tilt function alongside the height controls. Call us to talk through your setup.
What can I automate?
Earthmoving implements like blades and buckets attached to skid steers, posi-tracks, loaders, tractors, etc. The implement needs its own hydraulic valve bank on the blade itself — so dozer buckets and similar can’t be automated. Some blades are easier than others — call 1800 769 858 to verify if our laser automation will suit your machine.
What comes in the automation systems?
The automation systems listed include the receiver(s), control box and cables as standard. You can buy this and have your local auto-electrician set it up, and we’d recommend engaging a hydraulic expert to ensure the blade has the necessary valves. Most setups need more than the base kit to get running, so we tailor custom systems to suit. Call 1800 769 858 for a quote — customising a system isn’t always quick, so allow time for build and testing before shipping.
Can I still manually control my blade?
Yes. Automation is purely designed for the final trim, so for most of your bulk cut and fill you’ll likely still be manually controlling the blade anyway.
Real support. Real people.
