*** Please note – our Machine Receivers are only suitable for use with Red Beam Rotating Lasers. If you wish to use a Machine Receiver – avoid Green Beam Rotating Lasers. ***
Machine Receivers are reasonably basic bits of equipement (luckily!) so the most important thing to consider is how you are going to mount the receiver.
You need to have the LED Display in a convientent viewing position to give you the height readings you need.
The Receiver also needs to have line of sight to the Rotating Laser. Luckily they have 360 Degree sensors to make this easy – but you do have to be tactical with how you mount it still.
RedBack Lasers’ Machine Receivers are compatible with any Class 2 or Class 3 Red Beam Rotating Laser.
They will not work with any Green Beam Rotating Lasers, and do not work with Line Lasers of any sort either.
Your best bet is to pair a Receiver up with an Electronic Rotating Laser, as these are much less prone to bouncing due to vibrations than Pendulum Levelling Lasers or Manual Levelling Lasers.
RedBack Lasers have been selling Machine Receivers to Aussie Earthmovers for nearly as long as they’ve been available. We pride ourselves in expert knowledge which is backed by experience in the game.
We sell tough built Machine Receivers with Rubber Shock Absorption to avoid any movement in your Receiver. The Magnet Mounts are extremely strong designed to handle heavy duty cut & fill if required.
Our Receivers also come with all the accessories you might need and are backed by genuine “no BS” warranty.
Most people tend to chose a Magnet Mounted Receiver for Excavator use – these are the easiest to mount onto the dipper arm in order to give you height readings of the bucket.
You normally will have good visibilty of the Receiver so an In-Cab Display is not hugely necessary. The wired In-Cabin Displays feature 10m of cable, which is normally good up until around the 20T mark, any bigger than that and you might have to consider the MR825WD Wireless Machine Receiver instead.
The MR825WD also gives you a Plumb swing indication so you can actually tell when the dipper arm is vertical/plumb rather than guessing, which is useful for getting consistent height readings every time you do a check.
The easiest way to set up a Skid Steer with Receiver is to mount the Receiver onto a pole that is welded/attached to your bucket/blade/implement.
This will ensure you are getting height readings from the bottom of your cutting edge, allowing you to easily adjust as required.
In these cases, you’re probably best to choose a Receiver with an In-Cab Display to give you convenient displays of the height rather than having to crane your neck to see the receiver itself while operating.
If you’ve got a Grader Blade that allows you to adjust the height of both ends of your blade, you may be best to mount a receiver at both ends of your blade. This will give you your most accurate reading at each end, allowing for smooth falls & crossfalls as required.
The MR825WD has a blade tilt indicator that will mimic a 2x Receiver setup, that basically tells you how tilted or level your blade is while operating.
Our receivers will give a slow flash, indicating the height of the last known position. This allows you to easily turn around and readjust position to ensure line of sight again as required.
One way to mitigate this is to mount your Laser high on an Elevating Tripod like the HDET, and then have your receivers on poles sitting above the height of the cabin of your machine. This way your machine will never be able to block line of sight on your jobsite.
