That’s what laser class does: most brands sell Class 2, every premium RedBack runs Class 3R — up to five times brighter in a lit room.
4.7948 reviewsFive models, priced in order. Cross-line for tiling and small set-out, 3D 360° for full-room fit-out, and the XLG44 family when you want electronic levelling and one-person set-out. The lot runs Class 3R, carries a two-year warranty, and gets calibrated and repaired here in Australia.
Real rooms, real light — what the lines actually look like on the job.
A line laser projects dead-straight, self-levelled lines onto walls, floors and ceilings — level, plumb and square without a stringline or spirit level.
Cross-line lasers throw one horizontal and one vertical line — the entry point for tiling and basic levelling. Multi-line lasers add more verticals for squares and set-out. 3D (360°) lasers wrap continuous lines right around the room — the pick for floor-to-ceiling fit-out and full-room squaring.
Green is easier for most eyes to see than red. Our premium range runs both at Class 3R — and red actually pairs further with a receiver outdoors, about 150 m radius against green’s 40 m.
Brightness comes down to two things: laser class (power output) and diode quality. Class 3R runs up to 5 mW — the brightest class you can legally sell or use for construction work in Australia. Most line lasers sold here are Class 2: under 1 mW, a fifth of the power. Most brands don’t print the laser class on the box. We do.
The green range runs premium German OSRAM diodes. The XLG44 carries nine of them — one per line plus the plumb dot, so no line shares a diode. That’s the difference between reading the line at a glance and squinting for it.
Do the calibration check before you buy any line laser: ask what a calibration costs, and whether it can be done at all. Plenty of big-name lasers physically can’t be calibrated when they drift — some of those brands send their owners to us, and we have to turn them away because the access just isn’t there.
Every premium RedBack is calibrated and repaired in-house. If it drifts, send it in. Two-year warranty across the premium range. Laser servicing & calibration
Sunlight beats any visible beam — that’s physics, not a brand problem. The fix is a receiver: flick the laser to pulse mode and the receiver picks the line up where your eyes can’t. Red pairs to about 150 m radius, green to about 40 m, and the same receivers work across every laser on this page, budget models included.
Add the AT1 auto-tracking base and the XLG44AT squares and sets out at distance — one person, no second pair of hands.
A line laser is only as good as where you can put it. Monopoles for floor-to-ceiling work indoors, wall brackets for permanent lines, tripod and staff bundles for outside.

Seven DIY-friendly models — pendulum self-levelling, indoor-first, and most run pulse mode so they work outdoors with the LLR705 receiver. Calibratable and backed here in Australia, same as the premium gear.
Ring and talk it through with someone who actually uses them. No call centre, no script.
