The XLG44 is the flagship: servo-electronic self-levelling, +/-1mm @ 10m accuracy and 4 vertical + 4 horizontal lines. The most accurate line laser in the range, built for every-day trade use.
3D models wrap continuous lines right around the room. The Green3DMAX is the trade pick with 3 x 360° lines; the budget UNG6631 and UNG6631B cover the same layout with a horizontal line that sits 8mm above the floor for easy tape checks.
The CX610G rotates around its plumb dot with 4 vertical lines at 90° to each other - fast squares without string lines. The budget UNG641 works the same way.
The budget UNG range gives you Class 3 green brightness for occasional tiling work or DIY - calibratable and repairable, and pulse-mode ready for the same receivers as the premium range.

Multi-line lasers project straight horizontal and vertical lines across a fan angle of around 120°. 3D line lasers project full 360° horizontal and vertical lines that wrap around the room. 3D coverage gives you a continuous reference around walls, ceilings and floors - ideal for full-room tile set-out and squaring.
For indoor tiling, green is around 4-5x more visible to the human eye than red. In a well-lit kitchen or bathroom you'll struggle to see a red line; green stays sharp. All current RedBack premium and budget multi-line lasers are green.
Around 95% of line lasers on the market are Class 2 (<1mW). RedBack's budget UNG-prefix green lasers are Class 3 (<5mW) - significantly brighter and visible at greater distances. They often outperform name-brand line lasers at twice the price for that reason.
Set the laser low to the floor and run the horizontal line across a tiled section. High tiles cast a clear shadow above the line, low ones leave a gap below it. Walk the laser around the room - anywhere the line breaks reveals a problem before grouting.
For premium accuracy and brightness, the XLG44 is our flagship - Class 3R green, 9 OSRAM laser diodes, electronic levelling, ±1mm at 10m, 4 vertical and 4 horizontal lines, and the only line laser in the range with full electronic self-levelling. The CX610G and Green3DMAX cover similar work at lower price points.
You can tile without one - chalk lines, a plumb bob and a long spirit level did the job for decades. A laser just does it faster and takes out the guesswork: a level datum for the first row, a dead-plumb start column, and a square layout from one setup. On large-format tiles, where small errors compound row by row, it pays for itself quickly.
A green-beam multi-line or 3D line laser. Multi-line models like the CX610G suit squares and set-out; 3D models like the Green3DMAX wrap 360° lines around the whole room. For daily trade work pick from the premium range; for occasional jobs the budget UNG models cover the same set-out at lower cost.
It's the string-line way to check a square corner: measure 3 units along one set-out line and 4 units along the other - if the diagonal between the two marks is exactly 5 units, the corner is a true 90°. A multi-line laser makes the same check instant: its vertical lines are projected at exactly 90° to each other, so the square is already on the floor.
Project a level horizontal line at the height the first row needs to land and tile to the line - no second-guessing whether the floor was level. Then use a vertical line to set the start column dead plumb. A wall bracket gives a permanent height-adjustable mount, or the DC10 suction mount holds the laser on the wall without drilling at all.

FFranz Franz6 months agoCustomer service was above and beyond. Product has met and beaten expectations. They were sold out of the package deal I wanted but contacted me directly when stock came in to offer it without waiting for it to go online. Had the laser over two weeks now and it's light beam is brighter than my mates DeWalt and the receiver works at a longer distance. Another cool feature is that the batteries have a USB C port on them for charging with USB C cable instead of needing another charger. Was dubious about them being cheaper than others on the market but I honestly can't fault it. Carry box also feels strong and sturdy.
