Calibration, repair and servicing for every major brand of laser level — rotating, line, dot, pipe and dumpy levels. From our service department in Geelong, Victoria, with partners in QLD, WA and SA.
A short video walkthrough of how laser calibration works, why lasers drift out of spec, and what to expect when you send one in for service.
Print our step-by-step sheet and run the check yourself before sending the laser anywhere.
Download check sheetIf you’d like us to service or calibrate your laser, we handle it in-house at our Head Office in Geelong. Most jobs turn around in 5–10 business days from the time we receive the laser.
Our minimum fee for calibration is $160 inc. GST plus return freight. If any repairs or parts are needed, we quote those on top of the minimum fee — you only proceed if you approve the quote.
We can calibrate and service most other brands and models, but not every laser can actually be repaired or even calibrated. Some of the biggest brands sell lasers that are basically throwaways — the adjustment mechanism isn’t there, or parts aren’t available. Call us on 1800 769 858 before you ship anything and we’ll tell you straight up whether yours is worth sending in.
Send through your details before posting your laser to avoid any delays at our service department. Either complete the form below, or download the info sheet, fill it out and pop it inside the case with the laser.
Download, fill it in, then either email to [email protected] or include it in the case with your laser.

0404 746 307We work on rotating laser levels, multi-line lasers, dot lasers, pipe lasers, plumbers’ lasers and dumpy levels — every major brand sold in Australia. If yours isn’t listed, give us a call — chances are we’ve had it on the bench at some point.
Not every brand and model can be calibrated — some lasers are designed without an adjustment mechanism, others have parts no longer available in Australia. Call 1800 769 858 before you ship anything and we’ll tell you straight up whether yours is worth sending in.
Calibration of a laser level is making sure the laser is auto-levelling within its listed accuracy tolerance (e.g. ±1.5mm @ 20m). Lots of lasers come fully calibrated when you buy them — but not always.
When we calibrate, we make sure each axis of the laser (often shown as X and Y on top of the unit) is consistently equal/level and within tolerance. We use a real-life test method rather than collimators that simulate the process. To make sure your laser is giving accurate levels when it auto-levels, it’s worth checking the calibration regularly.
Doing a calibration check at home is straightforward — about a 10-minute job, but worth getting right because any inaccuracy compounds across distance.
The process involves checking the two axes of the laser against themselves: comparing the level of the X axis on each side, then doing the Y axis the same way.
Use our free online calibration checker — it walks you through it step-by-step, does the maths for you, and emails you a written report. Or call us on 1800 769 858 and we’ll talk you through it.
Lasers drift outside tolerance over time with normal use, but several other things speed it up:
Drops & falls are the biggest cause. Always make sure your laser is properly secured to its tripod, jam pole or wall bracket — lasers take internal damage from height, no matter how well built they are.
We always recommend an at-home calibration check after any drop, as the bare minimum — and sending it in for a full check-over is even better.
Pendulum-levelling lasers often sound an alarm when moved with the pendulum unlocked — that’s because they lose calibration if moved too aggressively while the pendulum’s free. Always lock the pendulum before moving them. Electronic-levelling lasers are less prone to this because they level via sensors, which is partly why they cost more.
Occasionally lasers take heavy enough damage that they won’t level consistently — the laser shows a different level every time it’s moved. In those cases the laser usually can’t be repaired or recalibrated, and replacement is the better option.
RedBack, UNILEVEL, Topcon, Bosch, Stabila, Pro Shot, Sokkia, Imex, Powerline, David White, Geo Fennel, Johnson Level, BeeLine, Leica Lino, Stanley, RoboToolz, PLS, Lufkin, Fukuda, General, Laisai, Futtura, DuraMax, Swiss Level, Leica Rugby, DeWalt, Spectra Precision, Hilti, CMI Lasers, Spot-on, Lasertec, Hauda, QBL, Trimble, BMI — and many more.
Not every laser is built to be recalibrated. Some brands or models don’t have an adjustment mechanism. Some don’t publish calibration procedures, forcing you to send the laser back to them at premium prices. Call 1800 769 858 first to confirm we can service yours.
RedBack lasers are built to be easy to calibrate — many local calibration businesses already have the tools to service our gear, and we carry spares for most models.
We provide repairs, servicing and calibration for all types of laser levels — plumbers’ lasers, pipe lasers, dumpy levels, rotary lasers, cross line lasers, tile lasers, green lasers, construction lasers and more. We also stock a full range of laser levels and can organise a replacement if needed.
We can repair physical drop damage, replace failed or worn components, calibrate, and certify.
All work is guaranteed and we quote before any repair work goes ahead. Items sent in for simple calibration won’t be quoted first unless the job exceeds $160 plus GST.
Only if a contract or jobsite specifically requires one. NATA-traceable certificates document a chain of measurement back to national standards. For everyday use, a standard calibration certificate from an experienced laser specialist is fine.
If you do need NATA traceability, mention it when you book the service so we can flag it appropriately.
Not sure if your laser is worth sending in? Wondering whether yours can even be calibrated? Give us a call — we’ll give you a straight answer in two minutes.

BBradley Barber4 months agoWe just received our first rotating lasor level from RedBack and so far has been great Fast postage , easy ordering and arrived safe and works perfectly
FFranz Franz4 months agoCustomer service was above and beyond. Product has met and beaten expectations. They were sold out of the package deal I wanted but contacted me directly when stock came in to offer it without waiting for it to go online. Had the laser over two weeks now and it's light beam is brighter than my mates DeWalt and the receiver works at a longer distance. Another cool feature is that the batteries have a USB C port on them for charging with USB C cable instead of needing another charger. Was dubious about them being cheaper than others on the market but I honestly can't fault it. Carry box also feels strong and sturdy.
CChris Thynne5 months agoI have ordered from Redback many times and the free delivery is excellent and fast. Very customer focussed and great to deal with. Thanks again team.
JJanine Pechey6 months agoRedback are great to deal with. I did a deal over the phone and product was in the mail that afternoon. If the product is as good as their service and I’m sure it is I would have no hesitation in recommending them. Thank you at RedBack.
CCraig “Monsta” Agnew7 months agoFast response to questions. Happy with product. Very easy to deal with. Courier they used could improve their tracking service. Very confusing and slow to update location of item tracked.
TTaz Partridge7 months agoThe guys at Redback are awesome. I had occasion to have to get my 3 beam green repaired after a moment of stupidity on my part. Repairs were done in a timely manner and at a reasonable price. The advantages of dealing with an Australian manufacturer are huge. No name brands are garbage if you damage them, and even some of the bigger "brand" names will see repair costs exceed replacement price. Redback build and sell quality products and the after sales service is fantastic More than happy to recommend Redback and their product range
