RedBack fencing laser kit aligning a rural fence line
Rural · Commercial · Vineyard

Fencing Lasers – Build fences straighter, faster.

One-person fence alignment for rural, commercial and vineyard work. Project a full 360° vertical laser line – line up posts over hills and gullies as long as the receiver has line of sight. Sight targets over 1km away through the 9× variable zoom scope, then one press of Auto-Align locks the laser onto the receiver. And the same laser works as a standard rotating laser when you’re not fencing.

If you’re after a laser level for fencing, this is it: a laser that holds the fence line dead straight over any distance, and a receiver that puts every fence post exactly on it. Sold, supported and repaired in Australia.

On the Job

What a fencing laser is used for

Three jobs cover most fencing laser work – find the one that sounds like your property.

01 · Fence Lines

Align a fence line over hills and gullies

The laser shoots a full 360° vertical line. As long as the receiver has line of sight, it picks up the beam – up the top of a hill or way down in the bottom of a gully. Perfect for fencing in country that’s not flat. Mark out 400m of posts (Standard kit) or 500m (Premium kit) in one direction from a set-up – put the kit in the middle of the fenceline and you get 800-1000m total. Full method in the fence alignment guide.

02 · Squaring

Square paddocks and right-angle fence lines

Perpendicular brackets let the scope swing to 90° from the fenceline. Run one line, square the corner, run the next – no more eyeballing boundaries. Both kit lasers – the EGL624GM and DGL1010GM – rotate vertically with auto alignment, so the same set-up that runs a fenceline also squares off it.

03 · Rural, Vineyard & Orchard

Trellis rows, orchards and cattleyards

Post and rail, ringlock, plain or barbed wire, vineyard and orchard trellis, cattleyards – the fence type doesn’t change the job. The method is the same on every run: align the laser, walk the receiver, mark your posts. Mounting flexes to suit the posts too – fix the laser straight onto a timber post, or set it up over the top of steel and trellis posts with the tripod.

How It Works

Three steps to a straight fence

The Auto-Align function is why these kits work where other lasers don’t.

01 · Set Up

Set up the kit

Mount on a tripod or fix directly to a strainer post. Position at the start of your fenceline – or the middle if you need the full 800-1000m range from one set-up.

02 · Auto-Align

Auto-Align to your target

Pick a reference point through the 9× scope – a star post, a tree edge, a paint mark on the ground – within 50m. Take the receiver to that exact mark and press the Auto-Align button. The laser swings until it finds the receiver and locks in line with the scope.

03 · Mark Out

Mark out posts

Walk the fenceline with the receiver. The laser shoots a 360° vertical line – as long as the receiver has line of sight, it’ll pick up the beam. Up the top of a hill, down in a gully – doesn’t matter. Mark, move on, ram in.

The Basics

What the kit actually does for your day

Six things a fencing laser kit unlocks on the job – most of them impossible with a stringline, sighter wire or eyeballing.

01 · Solo

One-person job

Set-up, alignment and marking out are all one-person tasks. If you’re short on labour or want to keep a fencing job solo, this kit takes the guesswork out of alignment.

02 · Long Range

Long-range alignment

Mark out 400m of posts (Standard kit) or 500m (Premium kit) in one direction from a set-up. Put the kit in the middle of the fenceline and you get 800-1000m total. Range varies with conditions – the further you stretch, the more intermittent the receiver, so pace your runs.

03 · Hills & Gullies

Works on hills and gullies

The laser shoots a full 360° vertical line. As long as the receiver has line of sight, it picks up the beam – up the top of a hill or way down in the bottom of a gully. Perfect for fencing in country that’s not flat.

04 · Squaring

Square paddocks easily

Perpendicular brackets let the scope swing to 90° from the fenceline. Run one line, square the corner, run the next – no more eyeballing boundaries.

05 · Mounting

Modular mounting

Tripod, post bracket, or laser slid over the top of a strainer – the kit mounts and moves multiple ways to suit the run in front of you.

06 · Auto-Align

1-button Auto-Align

The feature the whole kit hangs off. Pick a target through the scope, put the receiver on the same mark, press Auto-Align – the laser swings itself in line and locks on. No walking the beam across by hand, no calling corrections to a second person.

Why RedBack

The RedBack difference

Anyone can sell a fencing laser. Few back it properly – and none double as a site laser the rest of the year.

01 · Two Jobs

Doubles as a site laser

Competitor fencing lasers only do fencing. Ours doesn’t – the same EGL624GM or DGL1010GM runs horizontal levelling and grade work the rest of the year. One tool, two jobs.

02 · Repairable

Built to last, built to be repaired

Solid construction, built for the long term. RedBack provides in-house repair and calibration services for all RedBack lasers and most other laser brands.

03 · 5 Years

5-year warranty

The EGL624GM, DGL1010GM and their grade-match siblings all come with a full 5-year warranty and include a rechargeable battery, charger, tracking receiver and remote as standard.

FAQ

Fencing Laser Questions

Can one person really use this solo?

Yes. The entire kit is designed for single-person operation. Set-up is easy, aligning the laser to match the scope is a 1-button press, and marking out posts with the receiver is a walk. If you’re struggling to get help on fencing jobs, this is the kit.

How far can I mark out from a single set-up?

400m (Standard kit) or 500m (Premium kit) of fencing in one direction from a strainer post. Put the kit in the middle of the line and you can get 800-1000m total from one set-up, though finding a good middle point takes a bit longer. Range varies with conditions – the further you push, the more intermittent the receiver gets. Fencing a longer run? You can sight a target through the 9× scope from over 1km away – work the fence in 400-500m legs and re-set the laser along the line as you go. Re-setting is quick.

Can I set the laser in-line with the fence, or do I need an offset?

Both work. In-line is easiest when you’re first learning the kit – laser and scope both aim where the fenceline will be. The only downside: if you want to ram in each post as you go, rammed posts can block the receiver from detecting the laser. In that case, set the laser at an offset to the scope so the laser and receiver have clear line of sight even with posts in the ground.

Does it work in hilly country?

Yes – this is one of the biggest advantages over stringlines, sighter wires and other methods. The laser shoots a full 360° vertical line, so as long as the receiver has line of sight of the laser, it’ll detect the beam. That’s up the top of a hill or down the bottom of a gully. Perfect for fencing country that’s not flat.

What if I already own a compatible RedBack laser?

The EGL624GM, GREEN624GM and DGL1010GM all work with the FVAK64 Fencing & Vertical Alignment Kit. If you already own one of those lasers, you only need the FVAK64 add-on rather than a full kit. Call us on 1800 769 858 and we’ll put the right combo together for you.

What’s the difference between the Standard and Premium fencing kits?

Both kits ship with the same FVAK64 fencing add-on, 9× zoom scope, fencing receiver and 240HDF tripod and staff – the difference is the laser inside. The Standard kit runs the EGL624GM: 400m marking radius, 1.5mm @ 20m accuracy, Class 2 red beam and dual grade via slope remote. The Premium kit runs the DGL1010GM: 500m radius, +/- 1mm @ 20m, a brighter Class 3 red beam and digital grade to +/- 10.000% dual axis for site work. See the full comparison above.

Do fencing lasers come in a green beam?

Both fencing kits ship with red beam lasers – and for fencing that’s no compromise. Fence alignment is worked through the receiver, and the receiver reads red and green equally well outdoors. Green diodes earn their premium indoors where the beam is seen by eye, not on a fenceline. If you already own the green GREEN624GM, it’s FVAK64-compatible – the add-on kit works exactly the same way.

Can I use the fencing laser for normal levelling and grade work too?

Yes – that’s the point of the range. The same EGL624GM or DGL1010GM that aligns your fence works as a standard rotating laser the rest of the year: horizontal levelling with the receiver, and grade setting for falls and drainage – both models are grade lasers too. One tool, two jobs.

Do I need a tripod, or can I mount the laser on a post?

Both work. Tripod, post bracket, or the laser slid over the top of a strainer – the kit mounts and moves multiple ways to suit the run in front of you. Both complete kits include the 240HDF heavy duty tripod and 2.4m telescopic staff, and the FVAK64 can clamp straight onto a strainer post.
